Winter is finally here

Here we go.

The Wintertide is here plus the frigid cold is on top of us now.

The Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C is pumping hard with the heating and we are already spending far less time outdoors. Plus, with the spike in the virus spread, it’s even more time spent with just my immediate family in our beach home this winter. I have been working from my beach home since all this started. And I imagine that we will still be doing the same for many more months to come to be safe. So with this thought in mind, I decided to redouble my efforts in order to make our beach home just as cozy as possible this year. Saving some money on the heating bills didn’t hurt my feelings either. This fall, I took a few hours just to be sure that my home was the most prepared it could be for winter. Our beach home was built in the early 1970s. It’s still in superb shape but, like any home that’s older, it’s not as great as it once was. Making sure the home is sealed up is the best thing that a homeowner can do to save money on heating costs. Additionally, the coziness factor goes way up because sealing up the home slender reduces those pesky drafts. I kicked off my efforts by making sure that all of the weather stripping around all of the doors was replaced. And then, I replaced the front storm door. I spent a whole Tuesday caulking any gaps or cracks that I could find on the exterior of my home, too. The following day, I did the attic before putting in another layer of insulation. Finally, I reinsulated the window casing to be sure that it wasn’t letting Heating or A/C treated air out or the frigid air in. I suppose it will all pay off in the end!
