When some of our cousins invited me to join them for a evening of cards, I happily agreed to go. While I was excited to hang out with them again since it had been a while, but I was also cheerful to have an excuse to get out of our cabin for the evening. My HVAC device had stopped now working a few afternoons earlier, and our local service shop wasn’t able to schedule me an appointment until the following week. So, while waiting for our HVAC device to be evaluated and repaired, I was stuck inside a cabin without any cooling system. I grabbed a case of beer and some snacks on our way and was greeted by our cousins at the door. A few other family members were there plus some of our cousins’ friends, and I had a wonderful time chatting with almost everyone and playing cards. As the evening progressed, people began to head home, but I stayed. I’d have to return to a hot, stuffy cabin without cooling system, so I decided to stay until the end. As the group dwindled in size, 1 of our cousins recommended every one of us play a few betting rounds. I wasn’t ready to leave yet, so I agreed. As luck would have it, I ended up winning nearly every game! For our last round, I jokingly recommended our cousin bet the window AC device in the living room that had been cooling the cabin all evening, and I was shocked when he did! Everyone burst out laughing to find I had won yet another round. True to his word, our cousin took down his AC, and came back to our locale to help install it. I returned it right after our home’s own HVAC idea was repaired, however it felt appealing to have the window unit’s cooling in the meantime.
