When some of my cousins invited me to join them for a night of cards, I happily agreed to go. While I was gleeful to hang out with them again since it had been a while, but I was also ecstatic to have an excuse to get out of my apartment for the night. My Heating, Ventilation, and A/C equipment had stopped truly working a few days earlier, and my local maintenance shop wasn’t able to schedule me an appointment until the following week. So, while waiting for my Heating, Ventilation, and A/C unit to be inspected and repaired, I was stuck inside a apartment without any a/c. I grabbed a case of beer and some pretzels on my way and was greeted by my cousins at the door. A few other family members were there plus some of my cousins’ friends, and I had a great time chatting with pretty much everyone and playing cards. As the night progressed, people began to head home, but I stayed. I’d have to return to a hot, stuffy apartment without a/c, so I decided to stay until the end. As the group dwindled in size, 1 of my cousins suggested both of us play a few betting rounds. I wasn’t ready to leave yet, so I agreed. As luck would have it, I ended up winning nearly every game! For our last round, I jokingly suggested my cousin bet the window A/C unit in the residing room that had been cooling the apartment all night, and I was shocked when he did! Everyone burst out laughing to find I had won yet another round. True to his word, my cousin took down his AC, and came back to my place to help install it. I returned it right after my home’s own Heating, Ventilation, and A/C plan was repaired, but it felt appealing to have the window unit’s cooling in the meantime.
