Using my oven as a heater

How many of you have ever tried using your oven or stove as a furnace during the cold months of the year? If you have, you should certainly stop trying that method of heating for your home! It is incredibly dangerous! When you use your oven or stove as a heater, the amount of heating waste you create is enormous.

You are taking the heat that is intended for cooking food at a short distance away and trying to spread it out like a furnace vent! Furthermore, why would you need to use your stove or oven? Most people try this method when the power is out, meaning that you have a natural gas stove or oven.

Do you realize how dangerous using natural gas with your stove or oven as an HVAC unit is? With the open flames and carbon monoxide, there are many ways that you could die using a stove or oven as a heating system. A furnace, on the other hand, provides a combustion chamber that ensures that you are not smelling and breathing in natural gas that could be harmful, and it also keeps the flames from anything that could catch fire. If you have no electricity for your furnace to work, a better solution would be to purchase an HVAC unit that runs on propane. Propane heaters are a more efficient method of heating during an emergency, and you don’t have to worry about any dangers. Those HVAC units are typically built with safety mechanisms when they turn over or even are moved a little bit. Make sure you always practice safe heating in your house, and you should always consult an HVAC professional if your furnace is no longer working.
