My love for A/C versus her love for a heater

From day one, my wife and I understood that in our case, opposites had indeed been attracted to one another.

I liked spicy foods, and she liked sweet foods.

I liked sports, and she really liked reading. I liked action movies, and she liked romantic movies. I love to exercise, and she definitely did not like to exercise! However, since we have been married for a few months, one of the greatest causes of conflict in our marriage is our different thermostat preferences. My wife is a very small lady, and she becomes chilly very easily. She constantly craves having the heating system running, and if it were up to her, we wouldn’t get a chance to turn it off until the middle of Spring! On the other hand, if I were to have my way, we would never turn the heating system on, even during Winter, and during every month that I could feel even a hint of warmth, we would be running the air conditioner! It has actually gotten to the point where we both change the setting of the thermostat throughout the day to our own preferences, and when we catch one another doing it, it causes a shouting match to rival all. A friend recommended getting a zone controlled thermostat, but how would that work when we spend all of our time in the same room! In order to solve this HVAC dilemma, my wife and I created our own separate relaxation areas in the house and installed our preferred HVAC unit to keep us comfortable. While we sleep, we keep the air conditioner on, but we bought a heated sheet that allows us to only heat her side of the bed. Needless to say, our HVAC preferences have not changed, but the conflict has resolved itself.
