Propane furnace troubles

This Winter was by far the worst Winter that I have ever experienced in my entire life. Let me back up and explain the situation clearly. Last Summer, my wife and I decided to downsize and relocate all of our belongings into a camper. We planned on living in this RV all-year-round. We were very excited, and we felt pretty confident that all would go well. This RV had an amazing air conditioner that worked well during the hot summer months, and the Fall was the perfect temperature, requiring no HVAC equipment of any kind to keep us comfortable. Then Winter arrived. We knew that we had a furnace in our RV, so we were pretty comfortable with our situation. We insulated the belly of our camper, and we began to seal shut any windows or cracks that could allow cold air into our poorly insulated camper. The furnace worked like a champion during the first month of cold, due mainly to the mild temperatures of our area. We had the normal troubles of running out of propane for our furnace in the middle of the night and had to go buy some, but it wasn’t terrible. However, during the first major cold of the year, our furnace died a miserable death. The temperatures were in the negatives, and our furnace was turning off and on and blowing cold air randomly. Eventually, it got to the point where our furnace didn’t ignite at all. All of our water froze, and we had to purchase a portable HVAC heating unit in order to survive. We had to set the thermostat to ninety degrees and pray that our pipes would thaw before bursting. They eventually thawed, and our portable HVAC unit got us through the Winter. I don’t know what we are going to do next year without our furnace.
