It’s not really my way to tell other people how to live their lives.
That’s just not me.
I think this is the case primarily because I just hate when people think they know what’s best for me. But when it came to watching my neighbor wade into a big mistake with his HVAC equipment, I couldn’t stay silent. When it comes to my neighbors, I like to be there for them. I think that community is most important. After all, we only really have each other and we’re much, much better together than we are divided. So when I neighbor needs me to feed a pet and check the thermostat while they are on vacation, I’m happy to do that. The same was true when I got the text from my neighbor asking for help with his air conditioning. Actually, he wasn’t asking me to help him repair the air conditioning as he just needed someone to hold the light. Plus, I had better tools. Again, I’m always ready to help a neighbor so I grabbed my toolbox and headed on over. However, when I got there, I tried to turn the conversation toward calling the HVAC professionals. People like me simply don’t know enough about heating and cooling equipment to be messing around with it. He must have heard the logic in all of that as it didn’t take much flashlight holding before he picked up the phone and called the HVAC company. The HVAC technician was out within the hour and had the air conditioning up and running super quick. That was a much more preferable outcome to voiding the remaining warranty on his HVAC unit but trying it himself.
