Timely repair

Recently, we needed a furnace repair and called an HVAC company whose website we found on the internet.

The customer service representative asked us several questions, and we soon learned just how incredibly complex a furnace is. For one thing, the representative recited over the phone a checklist of components, with varying questions for each. At the top of the list was the furnace blower, since the blower is responsible for blowing a continuous stream of warm air throughout the home. He explained that a malfunctioning blower will begin to cut out before the desired temperature is reached. We weren’t sure if that was the problem, we only knew that the house wasn’t heating up to the temperature that we had set on our thermostat. We were asked if we regularly listened carefully to the furnace from a close distance. Since we hadn’t known that we should have been doing that, we didn’t know how to answer the question as to whether there were knocking sounds or other irregular sounds. Another question he asked, that thankfully we did know how to answer, was whether there were strange odors coming from the furnace. We knew that there wasn’t, so he didn’t need to pursue the possibility of a malfunction there. Eventually, he agreed with us that we would need an HVAC contractor to service our heating system. The problem we encountered was that all of their heating specialists were booked for the next week. After what started out as a hopeful conversation ended badly. We needed our furnace fixed as soon as possible. In the end, we found another HVAC company that gladly sent a certified service representative to locate and fix the problem the very next morning.
