I often wonder about a few different things. Sometimes I feel like my computer is listening to me, because I might talk about a certain product and then I see tens of pop-up ads looking on those pages. It does seem like someone could be watching my every move and waiting for me to click on a certain advertisement. When my wife and I were looking for a new car, we were consistently finding advertisements on our Facebook and Instagram page. Some of them were from huge dealerships, and some of the online ads were for small used car companies. Large companies can honestly pay for ads everywhere, which means the little guy is left with a very small amount of money in a corner. Optimizing for search engines is important in an advertising strategy, because it is a cheap simple thing to do to get more customers out there. Instead of heavily relying on advertisements, making sure you have the proper keywords and search engine optimization means your website will be found way before others. It isn’t true that someone is always watching us, but it is true that our computer and search engines use the information that we seek, in order to provide us with advertising that we may use. It still seems like big brother is watching.
