My friends and I were supposed to go to a party on Friday night.
The party was in a town about an hour away from the apartment, and I was going to drive.
I have the only car that can make the hour drive without breaking down and leaving us stranded on the side of the road. I had to work on Friday, even though my friends took the day off. I knew it was going to be a busy day, but my boss promised that I would be finished with the last job by 5 PM. I knew that would give me plenty of time to get home, take a shower, and drive to the party. After all, none of us wanted to get to the party very early. I only had three jobs on the schedule for the day. I had two HVAC tune up appointments scheduled in the morning and a mini split ductless air conditioner installation job in the afternoon. I didn’t mind the mini split ductless air conditioner installation appointment, because another guy was going to join me. The two of us would be able to knock out the air conditioner installation job in a couple of hours. I was annoyed and aggravated when my boss called at 1 p.m. to tell me that my coworker would not be able to join me for the ductless air conditioner installation job. The guy got sick after lunch. He ate some burritos and some of the sour cream or cheese might have been spoiled. He had to leave work to go home for that day. I didn’t finish that job until after six and my friends were mad that we almost missed the party.
