My aunt had owned the local heating and A/C supplier for almost twenty years.
When I got my heating and A/C certification, he refused to let me do the task for him, but I was hurt and disappointed since he didn’t even supply me a reason.
I thought that if I got my certification, he would be the first one to offer me a task although I was wrong! He told me to get some experience and after that I could ask again; but by the time I had really earned my certification and gotten an apprenticeship with the heating and A/C teacher, I forgot all about my anger with my aunt. I needed to figure out where I was going and what I wanted to do. I learned a lot from the teacher while finally working in his heating and A/C supplier and it was the best lesson I had ever learned. When it came time to transport on from my apprenticeship, I didn’t believe what I wanted to do… The owner of the heating and A/C supplier gave to keep me on full-time, although I was still thinking I should go back and talk to my aunt. He agreed I should talk to him, however he didn’t agree that I owed him my allegiance and should task him just because he was my uncle, however he left the decision up to me. I didn’t think I wanted to do the task for my aunt, although I did talk to him. I told him I loved where I was already finally working, and he understood. I even got an apology for not hiring me instantaneously. He thought I needed someone with patience to show me the ropes and not a family member.
