I’m still not used to being at my desk and not freezing my butt off.
- I have worked in this office for a number of years and this looks to be the first Winter where I will be able to work in a comfortable inside temperature.
Our office covers an entire floor of a downtown office building. It’s a rather nice spot and the office itself is pretty cool too. But there was one big problem with this office and that was the temperature control. Even though the office space is so vast, there was only one temperature control. So whatever it was set on, you had to adapt your workspace to. For me, that meant bringing in a space heater for under my desk. It’s the only chance I had to feel warm through the day. I wore jackets, coats, and other gear, but they were just too bulky to work in consistently. The new boss changed the Heating and A/C system about a month after she got here. The HVAC technicians were here for a few afternoons. They were increasing the existing Heating and A/C equipment so it could then be turned into zone controlled Heating and A/C. This was the best thing ever. Now, there are 6 separate Heating and A/C zones inside the office. All of us were given a whole day to move to the section that was best for our temperature needs. I’m in the warmest zone. It’s honestly quite great. I can leave the space heater at home for good now because I am finally comfortable and not freezing at work.
