There was a time when I used to tell people they should get the cheap air filters.
Little did I know, this was not good for the air quality in your home, and it didn’t do a whole lot to protect the HVAC system.
It was not good for the air handler to get clogged up with dust and debris and overall it just caused the system to not function as well as it should. Later on, I learned that higher quality air filters are fantastic for good air quality, they last longer, and they protect the HVAC system. They are great for removing allergens from the air and are just the best choice when trying to keep your HVAC running great. I had to tell everybody that I was wrong about getting cheap air filters. I sincerely thought everybody was saving money, but really they were just getting poor air quality and had to spend more money on HVAC system maintenance. These days, I know how important it is to keep up with things like keeping the ductwork clean. It’s really about good air quality and making sure your system remains clean and runs smoothly. When your system is not running up to speed, it actually causes your energy bills to increase. I guess in a way, it’s good that I learned these things the hard way, otherwise I would not have learned everything I know about keeping up with the HVAC system. I always make sure to tell people to get the good air filters and to even improve your air quality by investing in air purifiers or a nice air purification system.
