Having lived in the country in the same old log apartment for the past more than nine years, it was pretty absurd when I moved halfway across the country when I accepted a new task. It was much further down south in the city, so the wide open farmland I was used to was replaced with big cities & skyscrapers. When I moved into my condo it was a big surprise due to just how weird it was than my little apartment in the woods. One of the strangest things was the air conditioner component inside of the house. Having lived in an old farm home up in the north all my life, I never even saw an A/C unit, much less used a single. All I had at my old locale was a small fireplace & that was it. It took myself and others weeks of trial & error to finally figure out all of the controls for this overpriced unit, along with looking at some youtube videos online. It would have really been more smooth to have just called the local Heating, Ventilation & A/C component to ask for some help figuring it out, however pride is an amazing thing. Now that it has been a little longer & I have gotten adjusted to this newer way of living, I am starting to miss my A/C component less & less. Every once in a while there are evenings when I am busy at task & would care about to head back to my old farm & appreciate the silence, however then I snap back to reality when I remember just how fun & exciting the city life is!
