Our dad is much older now and life has given him so many gifts.
He may not have the memory he used to have, however dad knows from talking to us that he has given so much that he should be proud of what he has achieved in life.
As he sat here listening to this small tape recording he made three years back when his memory started to go, it regularly brings joy to his face. Dad suffers from amnesia and he tries to remember things but they have faded into a dark hole that he can no longer see. Dad relies on us to show him old pictures and share stories to jog his mind but it usually fails. He tries to fake a smile but he knows we see that he is struggling with that even. The tape dad created helps him stay happy because every morning he slips further and further from reality. One day, he won’t remember anything. We tell him about the days he was a Heating, Ventilation and A/C serviceman who put the Heating, Ventilation and A/C business on his back to see it succeed. Dad sees the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C business he worked advertised on tv as one of the greatest in the country. Apparently, when he was younger, the heating and cooling business just started out and dad was one of their top employees. He doesn’t remember much of it nor does he remember the job of cleaning an air filter or repairing the Heating, Ventilation and A/C system he has. He just trusts that we are here for him and he hopes to never forget that.
