To be totally clear, I don’t have my certification, so I am not an HVAC worker… I am the field boss, the place manager, plus one of the co-owners of the business.
I am not a tech.
One of my several jobs is to vet, interview, plus hire the new techs that will be working in the HVAC business. I provide spot superation at random task sites too. They never know when I will show up, however they know I run a tight ship so everything honestly must be 100% when I surprise them. Once upon a time the entire plan was for me to do the training, take the courses, plus get my Heating, Ventilation plus A/C appliance certification, however life completely got in the way. The crazy thing is that I have become so much more valuable as an administrator than I ever could be as a Heating, Ventilation plus A/C appliance tech. That doesn’t mean I disparage my employees in any way, shape or form. I’m only saying that Heating, Ventilation plus A/C appliance service can be taught in a class, plus running your own supplier can’t ever be taught. It basically has to be acquired through experience. I can find a handful of talented young Heating, Ventilation plus A/C appliance techs in a few days, however no one else knows the ins plus outs of this supplier the way I do. While my plan regularly was to run a Heating, Ventilation plus A/C crew, I am running the entire show, plus hiring others to run the crews. At the rate I’m going, I will be able to retire comfortably very soon. I honestly have never once fixed an a/c appliance or oil furnace in my entire life.
