My daughter lives in a major metropolitan city and she loves it.
I admire her because we are from a very small rural town, and she was brave enough to leave to make it on her own.
I wish I had that fearlessness, but my life took a different path. I ended up married in my early 20’s and I had my daughter when I was 24. So, life took over and moving out of our rural town became a dream that would never come true. But I am content living here because it’s home, and my daughter visits at least 3 times per year. She has been living in the city for about 3 years now, and she has an apartment in a high-rise building. I went to visit her a few times and although the city is nice, it’s a bit too big for me. Anyway, last week she called her dad about her air conditioner. She has a ductless mini split system and she wanted to know how to perform the maintenance. At home we have central air conditioning, so we are not familiar with a mini split system. She ended up having to Google what to do. Turns out that the maintenance for a mini split system is somewhat similar to that of an HVAC system. You will need to change the filters regularly as well as clean the outside condenser coils with a dry cloth. Additionally, you should schedule a yearly maintenance with an HVAC professional. They will perform a tune-up and check the unit for any potential issues. I didn’t know this before, but I am glad that I learned something new last week.
