What is the lifespan of your HVAC unit?

There are certain luxuries in life that I can’t live without.

  • A few include my cell phone, my laptop, Wi-Fi, a hot shower, a comfortable bed, and of course, my HVAC unit.

The HVAC unit might seem odd for that list, but it is an essential part of my daily life. It provides comfort when I am in my house whether I am sleeping, cooking, cleaning, or just lounging. It helps to keep my home comfortable no matter what, so I can’t overlook the significance of having a working HVAC unit. At times, when that unit stops working it is then that we appreciate it more than before. But personally, I understand the comfort that it brings so it’s one piece of equipment that I give extra attention to. A typical HVAC unit usually lasts between 10 to 25 years, but depending on use and maintenance, some HVAC units can have an extended lifespan. In order to extend the life of an HVAC unit, it is best to service the unit at least once per year, change the aitr filters every 90 days, and clean away debris from the outside unit. It is also important to monitor the temperature inside your home and follow the recommended guidelines set by the Department of Energy. They recommend setting the thermostat to 78 in the Summer and 68 in the Winter months. This will prevent your HVAC unit from being overworked which will then cause less wear and tear and perhaps will extend the life of the unit. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, but I do what I can to make sure that my HVAC receives the best care.
