Ventilation and smoke

I am not going to lecture you about smoking cigarettes, I promise, but I do want to tell you about what helped me quit smoking.

This one is aimed at the people that have been thinking about quitting, but are scared to try. Believe me, I know that feeling, that was me for years. The first thing I can tell you is that no one can bully you into quitting, a person only gives up smoking when they want to. If your heart isn’t in it, you will end up back on the cancer sticks before you know it. If you are ready to quit, I suggest making sure your HVAC system is ready and able to assist you in this difficult time. I am 100% serious here, you don’t realize how terrible the indoor air quality is in your house until you spend a few days not smoking. Then you realize that everything you own reeks of stale smoke, and you will need a serious air filter to mitigate the damage. Most HVAC systems come with air filtration systems, so regular people won’t need anything more than that. For us recovering smokers, I recommend also buying a small air filter or air purifier to keep close to you. Change out the air filters in your HVAC system every week if you have to, but honestly that second air purifier will help you out more than you think. After a few weeks of circulating through the air filters, the air in your house will get back to a normal smell.
