Trading a furnace for a heat pump

Honestly, I wasn’t exactly fully onboard with moving south for retirement.

However, my wife had wanted that more than anything for the last decade.

It would have be unthinkable for me to simply pull the plug on that dream. Or it might have cost me my marriage. Regardless, my main reason for not wanting to go south was just the move itself. I wasn’t all that interested in the kitchen and HVAC upgrades that had to be done to the house in order to sell it. Then the actual move itself seemed like such a major hassle. Just wasn’t sure that I was up to it. But of course, my wife had it all wired and the entire thing went really quite well. While I was glad to be free of harsh winters and surging HVAC heating costs, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew that the summer was going to be hot and humid. However, I also knew that the HVAC heat pump was a great tool for getting through those hottest of months. And once that was over, the rest of the year seemed like a treat. The winter was to be mild however, I was told to expect that there would be some cold snaps. Frankly, I wondered if the HVAC heat pump would be up to the task. Once I first turned the thermostat from cooling to heating, I knew in an instant that my worries were unfounded. The heat pump kept the house toasty warm on the occasions that we had to use it. So all in all, I have to say that this move south has turned out to be a far better affair than I had imagined.
