Managing a massive group of people has been one of the greater experiences of my life.
Don’t get me wrong, it can be a real challenge something like herding a bunch of feral cats.
But, when it works, it is easily a thing of beauty. That is why I have kept with it for such a long period of time. I have been provided different positions but, I have always adored leading people in a subtle but effective way. Just the dynamics of working in close quarters day after day is terribly challenging. I guess that all of us recently had a situation over the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C appliance setting in our office. We happen to work in a massive open space with cubicles and stations for everyone. The only walls are for the conference room. It’s really just common sense that a group of thirty people will have different ideas of Heating, Ventilation, and A/C appliance comfort. There is only one thermostat in the office and it tends to be controlled by a group who easily prefer to keep it more warm than cool. This hasn’t actually been a serious problem until lately. The warm group got a bit greedy and kept the thermostat setting relatively high during a terribly hot streak of weather. This became a tremendous issue and I recognized that I needed to do something because neither side was actually budging. I didn’t want things to end up getting personal. So, I had the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C appliance people come in to install a ductless Heating, Ventilation, and A/C appliance on one side of the office. Then, I recommended that everyone could arrange their working areas around the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C appliance setting preference. This has worked surprisingly well. The group who likes it warm are perfectly comfortable and there is now a much cooler zone in the office.
