When the heating and cooling specialist installed the mini-split ductless heating and cooling plan into my husband’s office, he told me about the perks that came with going ductless! He said it was virtually repair free, and we didn’t need yearly servicing, then the ductless heating and cooling plan was cheaper to run, and it was more efficient in heating and A/C, we had the mini-split heating and cooling plan installed for almost a year, and he was proving right in everything he said about the mini-split, our energy costs were lower, and the heating and cooling worked perfectly.
The only problem we were having was that there was a faint odor of mold in the room for the last couple of weeks, but I called the heating and cooling contractor and told them about the odor of mold.
He said we may need to have the plan flushed and cleaned. I thought this was repair free. He said it was repair free, but it needed to be cleaned once every year or more than once. In my book, cleaning was part of the repair program. He said the repair was without cleaning! When they did repair on the heating and cooling system, they also cleaned it as part of the repair. Maintaining heating and cooling systems and cleaning was still part of the deal. Telling me there was no repair needed meant the heating and cooling plan didn’t need to be cleaned, either. I could not argue with the heating and cooling specialist, so I told him to come out and ‘clean’ the mini-split system. When he got there, it surprised him how much mold and slime had formed inside the unit. It took him nearly an hour to scrub one small mini-split heating and cooling system. I would hate to see how long it would take if I had ductless heating and cooling in the entire house.
