Summer temperatures in this area are always very hot and humid.
It is not uncommon for the humidity to reach 100% every afternoon. In fact, there is so much humidity in the air that we almost always have an afternoon rain storm. The rain storm may only last 5 or 10 minutes, but there is just enough moisture in the air to make the rest of the day miserable. My wife and I used to run the air conditioner all day and all night until we talked to a contractor about cooling the temperatures in our home. We thought that we needed to buy a better air conditioner, but the heating and cooling contractor suggested buying a dehumidifier to help cool the house during summer months. My wife and I did not realize that a dehumidifier could provide relief from the heat, And we thought it was worth a try. Neither one of us were prepared to spend $1,000 on a whole home dehumidifier, so we decided to buy a small portable machine to keep in the house. During the day, we put the portable dehumidifier in the living room. At night, we move the portable dehumidifier to our bedroom. I can honestly say that the results have been amazing. My wife and I cancel the difference in our indoor air. It feels crisp and cool and the air conditioner does not run as frequently as it did in the past. We probably should have bought this air machine a long time ago, but we certainly didn’t realize the amazing benefits.
