Man, it is a brutal place to live in the summer.
The heat here actually hits you like a wall when you walk out into it.
It’s the kind of place where you need to go out and roll down the windows in your car 15 minutes before you leave for anywhere. There is no way that the A/C in the car can catch up unless you let the car air out. It doesn’t stop there. I love to be outside. Where I have chosen to live is perfect for this type of lifestyle except for the 3 peak months of summer. It’s just too hot to play tennis or golf. I simply try to find water sports that I enjoy and stay submerged as much as possible. However, I have to give it to my HVAC heat pump. That thing just keeps going. We have planned to replace it in 2 years as it is getting a bit long in the tooth. The efficiency of the HVAC unit will begin to tail off rather abruptly. So, we want to be prepared for when that happens. To that end we have recently made some additions to help lessen the cooling load on our existing HVAC unit. We want it to last and helping it make it to the finish line is something we can do. I recently had a smart thermostat put in. This thermostat is able to do a much better job at managing the HVAC usage than I am. While we are away at work, it raises the temp in the house during the heaviest heating hours of the day.
