Saving winter energy bills with a smart thermostat

Over the past two years, my parents have watched as the energy bills for our home have gone up, especially during summer and winter.

The house is big, so most expenses come from the heating and cooling unit that help with indoor comfort.

There was no way those units could be switched off because our area gets very hot and cold. My dad thought that the best thing to do would be to invest in new heating options that are more energy efficient than the old heat pump in the house. He reasoned that since annual heater maintenance needed to save them more, the type of HVAC in the place must be the issue. On the other hand, Mom thought it was an unnecessary investment since we already had something covering our home heating needs, and the cost of living was going up for everything, not just energy. Dad knew that there were better options within the heating industry, so they agreed to visit the local heating company to learn more about heating options that are more energy efficient than what they had. They were assigned a heating technician at the heating business who was patient enough to answer their extensive questions. By the end, they organized an inspection of the unit so that they could get more accurate and reliable information. The HVAC professional found that the heat pump installation was still in good condition and the only thing they’d need to add was a smart thermostat. The heating dealer explained that the thermostat would help them control and program temperatures for every room and track energy use. They both welcomed the suggestion and had the thermostat installed before winter. We are all waiting to see if there’ll be a reduction in energy bills by the end of the season.
