Until about a year ago, I was using a truly old window a/c in our living room.
The a/c was a gift from our brother when he moved across the country.
He’d gotten the cooling unit used. The a/c was seriously bulky, heavy plus difficult to position into the window. It made a lot of noise plus tended to drip water. However, it put out a tremendous amount of cool air. I struggled to carry the cooling unit up to the attic in the fall plus back down in the late Spring. I used to set it on a blanket, slide it across the floor plus carefully bump it down the stairs. I often hurt our back lifting it into the window. I had to really shove to get the unit in locale, however last year, I shoved a little too hard plus pushed the a/c all the way through the window. It fell numerous stories plus smashed on the pavement of the driveway. I’m truly lucky that it didn’t hit our car. When I made the trip to the store to buy a modern window a/c, I was surprised by the adequate prices. I was able to buy a top-of-the-line model for under $200. The modern a/c is about half the size plus weight of the old a single. I really carried it up the stairs plus had it mounted in the window plus operating within numerous hours. I was amazed by how quickly that little a/c cooled down the living room. It’s so quiet plus helps to dehumidify plus filter contaminants out of the air. Plus, I now have a cordless remote that lets me make adjustments without even getting out of bed.
