My wife has a kid from her previous marriage and I have to say that this kid is still weird that I don’t really know how to relate to him. One of the weirdest things that I have ever seen him do was when we had to replace the furnace at her house. This furnace was probably 30 years old or so and we ended up having to replace it with a new high efficiency model. Everything was going along just fine, and the new HVAC technician had just shown up at the house to install the new furnace for us. He had a couple of other guys who were there to tear out the old HVAC system and haul it away for us. Meanwhile, the kid is down in the basement crying and throwing a fit. When I asked my wife what was wrong with him, she said that he was just very sentimental, and he was upset because the old furnace was going to have to go away. I thought that was the weirdest thing that I had ever heard of. I mean, what kind of kid gets all sentimental about a furnace unit? I guess some kids are just strange, but this really took the cake in my book. I told the kid to stop crying, but he just looked at me like I was an ogre. He ended up tying himself to the old furnace and refusing to let go of it until his mom let him have a funeral for it in the backyard. He wouldn’t let them haul it away. Instead, now we have an old furnace buried somewhere in the backyard because this kid is such a weirdo.
