Motorhead

Our child has consistently been referred to as a “motorhead”.  This basically means that for as long as both of us can recall, she has been laboring on anything with an engine.  Even when she was merely a youngster, we would catch her out in the garage playing with tools or trying to take something apart.  For these reasons both of us weren’t shocked when she told us she wanted to race cars. She kept laboring on old junkers & was always trying to swap engines to make them drive faster.  When she was old enough she started looking into importing a Type-R, JDM Honda. She knew that it would have a strong enough engine right from the start however she had no clue about the paperwork & time that would be involved in shipping this classic car all the way from Japan.  Just finding a representative that could be trusted & that spoke English fluently was a major challenge in itself. However, without that, the whole investment could be for nothing because she would have no way of seeing or test driving the car before it absolutely got there. With a wonderful rep on the other end she could be confident that her investment was worth every single penny.  It pained us to watch her pour through the ton of paperwork & forms that needed to be filled out just to begin the process. Once the initial purchase & shipping business was eventually approved, it still took almost 2 months for the car to leave the Japanese port. The final arrival of the car is still a few weeks out. She will have a wonderful car to work with for racing when it is finally done.  I only hope she doesn’t run into any more red tape down the road.
