We have lost another sizable manufacturing plant in our town. It has been happening all around the country however when it hits close to home it can be easily difficult. The concerning part is, this is one that could have been avoided if the common technology had been implemented when troubles first arose! The factory was told several years ago that they needed to decrease the toxic emissions that the plant was sending out into the surrounding air! Although the air quality in our area will be improved plus the risk of health troubles from that air will be less, this means that hundreds of working people are out of work as a result of this shut down. All that the management at the plant had to do was utilize technology to improve the air quality. The EPA made recommendations plus even offered assistance in making the needed changes. The dealer basically chose not to make the investments plus tried to make small changes instead. These did not improve the air quality to the accepted levels so the EPA had to shut them them down. I suppose that the upper management didn’t really care because they made the currency they wanted while the regular workers had to suffer the loss. These days, people are less worried about large factories plus more worried about the air quality, water, plus health troubles that are affected by severely dangerous chemicals. I am too but I wish that the people who own these sizable companies would make an investment in the future of the employees also. Technology is out there that can make these sizable manufacturing companies safe for all involved. It is extravagant, but, well worth it when it comes to ensuring the longevity of the those companies.
