Making fitness a part of life

My mother is 81-years-old and still quite physically fit.

She looks and acts far younger than her peers.

While her friends struggle to get around and deal with hip replacements, my mother still mows her own lawn, digs in her gardens, drives her car and enjoys swimming and playing with her great-grandkids. As far back as I can remember, my mother has always worked out and been extremely active. She still makes time for exercise every single day. She focuses heavily on stretches and balance exercises but also goes through lunges, crunches and pushups. She likes to take long walks. My mother has always eaten lots of fruits and vegetables and has never smoked, drank a lot of coffee or eaten fast foods. She’s never been overweight. I consider her an inspiration. Her example has led me to take good care of myself. I follow healthy eating habits and make my daily workout a priority. Whether I’m busy, tired, sore or just feeling lazy, I always devote an hour to physical fitness. I’ve raised three children who are also dedicated to an active lifestyle. All of them workout every day and prioritize a healthy lifestyle. The whole family often goes on vacation together, and we all meet up at the fitness center of the hotel in the morning. Our excursions are typically physically demanding, such as renting bikes, kayaking, zip lining, hiking or snorkeling. I know that my kids will avoid a lot of medical ailments because they are taking proper care of their bodies. They will live longer and better quality of lives. They will teach their children the same good habits.
