Husband won’t workout

Although my husband and I are the same age and have been married for nearly forty years, we couldn’t be more opposite.

I am a bit obsessive with how neat and clean I keep the house and my car.

My husband is extremely messy and his truck fills up with empty coffee cups, tools, wrappers and all sorts of debris. I am a vegetarian and I avoid caffeine, processed foods and tobacco. My husband most often eats steak, drinks coffee and soda pop and smokes cigarettes. I am very conscientious about my health and fitness. Along with eating lots of fruits and vegetables, I make an effort to drink plenty of water and get enough sleep. I try to go to bed and get up at the same time and quite early so that I can get the most out of my day. First thing in the morning, I start with an hour-long workout. I concentrate heavily on stretching and flexibility. Although I’m 54 years-old, I can still do splits, handstands, cartwheels and easily touch my toes with straight legs. I lift weights and perform sets of lunges, squats, crunches, burpees and mountain climbers. I often go for lengthy runs and bike rides and enjoy jumping rope. I am very close to the same weight I was in my twenties. My husband is often up very late at night and then sleeps until noon. He is very productive once he is up and around. However, he doesn’t take good care of himself. He refuses to stretch or workout in any way. I can’t even get him to go for a walk with me. He often complains about pain in his shoulders, hips and back.
