Keeping the vents clear

Every single year, I get anxious to bust our holiday decorations out of the basement & go insane! I’m one of those people who particularly enjoy setting up a lovely tree & a ton of twinkling lights as soon as I can.

I try & hold out as long as I can, even though I feel I decorate earlier & earlier each year, but my holiday decor brings me total bliss, what else can I say? This year, I decided to purchase a new skirt for the bottom of our tree.

I’d been using a cheap one that was multiple years old, so I thought it was time to invest in a totally different one one. I found a legitimately fluffy colorless one, & I happily set it out under the tree. My cat also seemed to legitimately prefer it, because it was warm and lovely, but when our cat was lying under the tree, I didn’t notice that she’d pushed the tree skirt around to make her own little nook. When she did this, she pushed the skirt over my air vent on the floor, which caused our furnace to react poorly, first, I noticed all of the sudden that there was no heat coming into our residing room, but there was a lot of heat being pushed into the other rooms of the house, but no matter how I adjusted the control unit, the heat wasn’t coming through our residing area! This is around the time that I found the air vent covered up by the tree skirt! I assumed that my cat would push the skirt over the vent again, so I had to transfer our entire tree.
