This year, the weather has been colder than ever before. I have lived here for 35 years, and I do not remember seeing this much snow and ice. I have not seen the lawn in months because the ice and snow are so thick, it covers everything. Every one of us has loved the beautiful snow showers each week. Since it’s only the beginning of December, this is a record amount of snowfall for the first month of winter. It did not slow down during January or December either, and we had to deal with record-breaking cold nights. It’s barely March now, we are still experiencing freezing and cold temperatures during the overnights. When the furnace stopped working and didn’t kick out warm heat, I contacted the local furnace repair business. The oil furnace repair business said it was time to buy a new oil furnace. With a month of freezing weather left, I’ve been trying to wait it out. The oil furnace repair shop always has an important sale right before summer. They try to get rid of last year’s heating equipment so they can make room for all of the new HVAC units. Even though the temperatures are extremely frigid, I decided to wait. It’s been cold and freezing every night,so I went out and bought an absolutely lovely electric portable heater for my room. I used the electric heater all night long while I slept. I’d turn on the electric heater a few hours before going to bed. My room would feel warm and toasty, and I do not have any thoughts of the oil furnace at all. When last year’s furnace systems go on sale, I shall have a new furnace installed. Until then, I am going to keep using the electric heater and hope for warmer weather.
