I guess you could say that my brother and I were close when we were youngsters.
I used to help him out with a lot of things, even things I didn’t want to do.
For example, he always used to spike his hair up with a hot comb. He would place the hot comb on the stove to let it heat up. I always thought it was dangerous, but he insisted on doing it. Well, I can’t tell you how many times he ended up burning himself with that comb! Fortunately, I never was burned, but I had to help him out. I would get him ice-cold water and a rag for his burn and make sure he sat next to the HVAC vent while I was cranking up the A/C system. I actually could have gotten myself into a lot of trouble if my father knew I was cranking the A/C system to help my brother with his burns, but I had to help him out somehow. When he was feeling better, I would just set the thermostat back to normal temperature control settings and my parents never seemed to figure out about it. More recently when we were having dinner together, we actually brought up those times when he used to burn himself all the time, and we laughed about it for hours. I’m really glad he doesn’t do stupid things like that anymore, it was such a crazy look anyway. I also would imagine that burning your hair like that is not good for your hair. He’s not bald or anything, so at least that’s a good sign.
