I remember back in the days not too long ago when I was young and dumb, and I used to think that trade workers were not as smart as other people who might have had a more cushy job title.
I really don’t know what made me think that.
It’s not like my parents ever really taught me to think that way about other people, but for some reason I just assumed that since I was super smart, I would end up with some sort of an office job somewhere when I got older. These days, however, I think that the people who have blue collar jobs or no one of the trades are actually the smartest people out there. First of all, one of the best things about them is the fact that they don’t have super high college bills that they have to pay for. I still am working on paying off my student loans, and it will probably take me 20 more years to finish it! Meanwhile, guys who finished high school and then went to get their HVAC certification from a local trade school are just working and making bank. People with their HVAC certifications can make a lot of money and they can also get really good jobs with local heating and cooling companies where they can even set their own hours. I can’t believe that I used to think that that sort of thing was not smart. Now that I’m older and wiser, I know for a fact that I would rather be an HVAC technician than to do the job that I’m actually doing right now!
