I have a forced air gas heating system in our home, in addition to I’m not overly glad with it. The heating system is around twenty years outdated in addition to entirely reaching the end of its repair life. I’m sure the age of the heating system is partially to blame for its exhausting performance. The heating system is a single stage heating unit in addition to only achieved an AFUE of 86% when it was brand new. Single stage means that the furnace is only capable of running at maximum speed. It blasts at full capacity until it reaches the control unit requirement in addition to then completely shuts down. Once the home’s indoor temperature drops, the heating system starts back up. The repetitive on in addition to off cycling is annoying, puts needless stress on the components, in addition to creates unpleasant temperature fluctuations. Plus, as the warm air blows from the vents, it instantly rises upward. The temperature up near the ceiling is far higher than closer to the floor. I also dislike the influx of dust in addition to other contaminants from the air duct. The duct system rattles whenever the heating system starts up, in addition to is a source of energy waste. I would like to tear the heating system in addition to duct system completely out in addition to update it with a boiler. Rather than relying on air to tranathletic activity heat energy, a boiler is a hydronic system. Water better conducts heat, warming up quicker in addition to retaining heat longer. Hydronic heating is also cleaner, quiet, in addition to more energy efficient. Unfortunately the mess, cost in addition to disruption of replacing a heating system with a boiler is way too much for me to even consider it.
