I hired a professional, but I think I got an amateur

Unfortunately, the guy never showed up at all the next day

I hired a professional HVAC contractor to install the ductless system that I bought online. I planned to install the heating and cooling components on my own. The ductless HVAC unit was supposed to come with step-by-step installation instructions. I believed I could use the instructions to install the machine on my own. After reading through the instructions, I knew the job was a little bit too big for me. I decided my best option was to contact a professional contractor. I looked online and on the marketplace for someone with shape, competitive rates. I found a guy advertising as an HVAC contractor with 15 years of experience. That guy had great rates and he even gave me an estimate over the phone. I thought it was neat that he gave me a quote over the phone until I realized that he never saw the machine and could not possibly know exactly what the system needed. The day that the contractor was supposed to arrive, he called me in the morning with an excuse. He said he could not help me on that date due to a family emergency. I know that family emergencies can come up without any notice, so I rescheduled the HVAC installation appointment for the next day. Unfortunately, the guy never showed up at all the next day. He called me a few days later and said he was still experiencing the same family emergency. I asked a contractor if he could recommend a different person to do the job and he hung up the phone on me. I thought I hired a professional, but I think I got an amateur.
