I don't want to move down south where I can't experience four seasons every year

Instead, my wife would rather wear beach clothing in the winter and deal with the miserable heat and humidity.

My parents are both immigrants from eastern Europe. Even though they’re both from different countries and immigrated to the United States a few years apart, they initially met in high school before dating and getting married during college. Their parents had all settled in the northern midwest because of its climate similarities to their homes back in eastern Europe. Unfortunately, the weather every winter has only gotten worse in the years since my grandparents all came to the United States from overseas. They settled in the north because it reminded them of home, but I don’t think they were expecting temperatures to get so low in the winter season by 2022. On top of the colder winters, we’re also getting hotter summers. I suppose these are serious repercussions of climate change. Before we know it, agriculture is going to start moving further northward if the southern United States suddenly becomes an actual tropical environment. My wife wants to move down south to get closer to her parents, but I want to experience four seasons every year and require the use of a heating system every winter to survive. Instead, my wife would rather wear beach clothing in the winter and deal with the miserable heat and humidity. I just don’t know how I can keep my sanity living in a climate like this, but I’m not going to have a choice much longer if my in-laws’ health gets worse. They just got a new air conditioner because their previous one was aggravating their asthma symptoms. The new HVAC system has a better SEER rating as well.
