There is literally nothing more pressing for me in getting a great night’s rest than a decent a/c. I simply will not sleep in the heat. I have also gotten so used to the sound of a fan motor running that it’s the a single sure thing that will drop me into sleep. Some people seem to be able to sleep in any sort of condition and under any temperature, with or without ac control. I think I envy those men and women, however that’s not me at all. As an instance, the a single-two punch of a windstorm knocking out power and it being the dead of summer time when it happens make sure that I simply will not sleep while in a hurricane, so long as the power remains gone.The last time this happened to my house, I was utterly angry. Not being able to get a proper bathing session made it even worse. I would sit there at night, covered in sweat in dead quiet night, except for the wind and rain blowing outside. With no amount of a/c or fans to cool me down and drown out the noise, all I could do is stare up at the ceiling and stare in misery. At that time, a small fan blowing in my direction would be better than nothing, however of course both of us had no electric to make that happen for me. I distinctly remember around dawn of the second afternoon of not having any electric, quickly, the lights came on overhead and the cooling system kicked on.
