When my son graduated from boot camp, we all went to see him receive his diploma. My wife and I were so proud of Jason and we wanted to support him fully. We never dreamed he would join the Army, but we were so proud of our boy. Jason graduated with many different accolades. Jason’s girlfriend Sondra, decided to go to the graduation exercises as well. She brought her parents along for the ride. We rented a room in the same hotel. Lyla and Dan complained about everything and anything. They complained about the parking, because we had to walk 8 spaces to get to our hotel room. They complained about the nearby restaurants and lack of selection. They were supposed to be supporting Jason, but all they did was cause problems. Lyla and Dan were in the hotel room next to my wife and I. Halfway through the night, we heard Lyla and Dan arguing. We had a shared air vent, and we could hear them screaming. We could hear every single word through the air vent. Lyla and Dan were arguing for an hour, before I finally yelled through the air vent. I told them to shut up or go home. The next morning, Lyla and Dan didn’t say anything about the previous night. They didn’t mention the argument or my direct words through the air vent. Shortly after Jason graduated, Lyla, Dan, and Sondra headed for the airport. Jason’s girlfriend was very upset and horrified, and she apologized to Jason and us. I have no idea why they were arguing, but I wish they would have stayed home.
