This past weekend, I spent over half the afternoon mowing the lawn. It’s the middle of the summer, and the lawn needs to be mowed almost every week, it is flourishing so much in this heat and rain. I got up early enough, but it was still in the eighties outside by the time I started legitimately working. I spent most of the afternoon out there slaving away, mowing my lawn and manicuring it to perfection. I fully expected to be able to return to my apartment and appreciate a couple beers in the good a/c as was my custom after mowing the lawn. Unbeknownst to me, but, almost immediately after I had gone out there to start mowing, the a/c in my apartment had failed. By the time I went back into the house, it was almost as sizzling in there as it was outside! I was so angry! Here I was, sweaty and sleepy and expecting to return to a nice, cool house, and it was almost as sizzling as the outside! I called out my HVAC people, and they were indeed able to arrive on that same afternoon. It was bad enough waiting the few hours for them, I couldn’t imagine trying to sleep that night in that heat. Thankfully, they had everything up and running again shortly after dark. I couldn’t have been more thankful for their strenuous task in returning my lake apartment to as comfortable a temperature as I fully expected it to be when I walked into the apartment after mowing the lawn!
