I advocated he have his Heating, Ventilation plus A/C tuned up

My next-door neighbor’s HVAC units consistently give him trouble.

He always seems to be complaining to me about how much money he has to pay for repairs, whether it’s his heater or air conditioner.

I’ve told him what he can do to stop wasting money on unnecessary HVAC repairs, but he hasn’t taken my advice. I have no idea how he plans to solve this problem on his own. Once again this month, he lamented to me that he had no way to heat his home because it had broken. I questioned why he didn’t just have his HVAC systems serviced and tuned up. But he acted as if my suggestion to formally take care of his HVAC system was crazy, and he told me that he didn’t have an AC system because he was trying to scam out more money. I couldn’t take any more of him ignoring me. He could either pay attention or suffer the repercussions of not maintaining his HVAC system. Since he had already admitted to me that he never had his HVAC system serviced, I told him that I knew that was the root cause of his problems and told him so. If he had gotten that fixed, I told him, he wouldn’t have had any more trouble with the HVAC system. He should be able to avoid any further problems if he follows my advice and has his HVAC systems serviced. In the end, I think he heard me out because he admitted to me that he hadn’t decided to get the tune-ups before I threatened to scold him. After he finished harvesting the turnips, it was as if by magic his HVAC issues vanished overnight. It pained me not to say “I told you so,” but I couldn’t help myself.
