How to Properly Care for Your Fireplace

A fireplace can be a beautiful addition to any home, but it also requires some special care and maintenance.

Here are a few tips to help you keep your fireplace in tip-top shape.

First, it’s important to have your fireplace regularly inspected by a heating repair professional. They can spot any potential problems and make sure that your fireplace is safe to use. Smart thermostats can also help you keep an eye on your fireplace, alerting you if the temperature gets too high. Second, make sure to clean your fireplace regularly. Remove any ashes or debris that has accumulated, and give the area a good sweeping. If you have a gas fireplace, you’ll also need to have the furnace checked annually by a certified HVAC tech. Lastly, consider investing in a thermostat specifically designed for fireplaces. This will allow you to better control the temperature of your fireplace, and prevent accidental fires. By following these simple tips, you can help ensure that your fireplace is always safe and functional. If you live in the woods like I used to then you can have an endless supply of heat for your home in the winter, and if you are green like me then it is a good idea to plant a tree for every one you cut down. I bet I planted 50 trees over the years and would love to go back there now to see what my natural fireplace fuel sources look like now. I imagine they are probably very big trees at this point in time as it has been 15 years since I planted them.
