Helping the family HVAC reach a wider customer base

I am still part of the family business but don’t own a toolset.

My whole family is in the Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C business. My Grandfather started a Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C business in addition to it has been handed down. As the oldest child in the family, it was kind of assumed that I would take over the reigns. The issue was that I had no interest in heating or cooling. I also have no talent with repairs or any type of HVAC service. I could tell you what was wrong with furnace or air conditioner, but never effectively repair it. Instead of getting NATE certification, I chose business marketing for my major and learned about online SEO. My whole family was sure I had abandoned the family business. I ended up improving the family business. We had always depended on word of mouth to generate business. We are the only neighborhood HVAC business. I have given our business an online presence, and we see so many more new customers. The surrounding towns have no HVAC provider. They tend to call companies located hours away because they never knew about our much closer HVAC business. Now that we have a website, google ads and the phone number is listed online, those people find us. My family is talking about expansion. They may need to hire more workers. This is definitely because of my SEO techniques and SEM tactics. I am still part of the family business but don’t own a toolset. I might expand my own business by taking on other small HVAC companies and offering online SEO. I won’t accept companies that are located in the same area. There’s no reason to help the competition. I can help those HVAC companies in other areas.
