I am not one to fix things myself, so when my HVAC system started acting up this last week I got a little worried.
I know from previous experience that HVAC work can be pretty expensive.
When I came home from work last week I noticed that there was no heat, even though the thermostat was on. I asked my wife if she noticed any weird sounds coming from the heating and cooling system but she said she didn’t. I went down to check on the steam boiler and noticed that there was a leak. I figured this must be the problem so I called an HVAC technician. After the first HVAC technician quoted me an insanely high price I called another. The next HVAC technician was even higher and I knew I was going to have to fix the heater myself. I took to the internet to research as much as I could about steam boilers. I found a community of HVAC technicians that helps people online and I learned how to fix the leak in my steam boiler. All I had to do to fix my HVAC issues on my own was borrow a few tools and get to work. I learned about the HVAC parts involved in a steam boiler and I even think I may be able to upgrade my system in the future. Now that I know how much cheaper it is to do HVAC maintenance myself I probably will never call an HVAC technician unless I really have to. My wife was very impressed with my HVAC skills and I was too!
