My parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary together this year and we are ready to celebrate that in the biggest way possible! Myself, my cousins and siblings, and even aunts and uncles have put our heads together to throw them the biggest party yet! My parents are not the type who enjoy big celebrations for themselves – they are good Christians who live by believing that giving is the proper thing to do and that greed is evil, but they have never had any sort of get-together, especially something this big, dedicated to them. We all knew it would most likely make my parents uncomfortable, but we still vowed to make it the best night of their lives. We had began preparing for this special night weeks ago, but when the night finally rolled around, that was when the central air decided to stop working all together! This was easily the worst timing possible, especially because it was completely dead. We all came together to try to come up with a solution as soon as we could – waiting for the technician to come by the next day just wasn’t going to help us right now! So, my sister and I jumped into my truck and headed to Target to pick up the smallest and least expensive portable air conditioner they had in stock. Realistically, I didn’t need anything crazy because I just needed something to cool off the one room we were all in for a few hours. Fixing the whole unit was another project for another day – we just really wanted to save the celebration for my parents!
