It’s so funny how things work out.
My dad so wanted a boy but he got me instead.
I tried awfully hard to be the sort of tomboy that he had to settle for. Because having me was such a big problem for my mom, they stopped with me. So I was the only kid inside a big house with the best of everything really. We had the latest in residential HVAC and even a pool. I really didn’t know any better so it wasn’t like I was lonesome for a sibling. And my parents were so happy to have me. It was a great situation. But dad would drag me up to his hunting cabin each fall to try and get me into hunting. It was a lost cause as I didn’t like guns and I the thought of killing Bambi was heinous to me. Still is as a matter of fact, if we’re keeping score. Still, dad loved that old hunting lodge and I’d talk him into taking me up there for long weekends in the spring and summer. It was just so nice to get out of the heating and cooling to enjoy nature. And that lodge was smack in the middle of some of the most beautiful scenery one could imagine. So when dad died a year ago, I really wasn’t considering his estate as I was just bereft at the loss of my hero. But it turns out that he left me that lodge. In his honor, I have made it so that my kids and their kids will be able to enjoy this wonderful space. I had a local HVAC company install a ductless multi split so there is modern residential HVAC in that old lodge.
