We planned our family beach vacation with dreams of fun in the sun.
The hotel had onsight scuba diving, kayaking, surfing lessons, and many other things. We just knew we would have lots of fun when we booked our stay. What the brochure didn’t mention was how hot it is this far south. The heat index never went below 100 during our entire stay! All we wanted to do was stay in our hotel room and enjoy the air conditioning. Even the water was too hot to play in when we went scuba diving. We were happy to cool off in our air conditioned hotel room afterwards. Each day we tried something new but it was getting to be more and more of a chore to go out in the heat. When we got home many of our friends and family were jealous of our trip. They asked us what we liked best about our vacation. My whole family agreed, it’s our air conditioned room. Our friends and family think we were joking. We seriously or not. We wouldn’t have been able to have any fun at all if we didn’t have a nice cool room to come back to. It’s the one thing we look forward to every day. I recommend visiting this area and seeing all the attractions. However, I don’t recommend doing it in August. Wait until winter, then you might have a little bit more fun. But if you must go in summer, make sure to pick a hotel with good air conditioning and plenty of attractions.
