I was regularly worrying about my air conditioning equipment breaking down during the summer.

I could not imagine going even a afternoon separate from air conditioning when the temperatures in our section were in the upper 69s and low 90s.

Then the unthinkable happened, and I went separate from air conditioning for almost a week. I realized that having a broken air conditioning equipment meant a lot more than just the lack of comfort for myself. The heat and humidity was causing mold and mildew to grow on my walls and in my closets. I was distraught about black mold and was unable to do much of anything about it at that point. Once the air conditioning equipment was updated, I called a mold remediation supplier. I needed to have someone help to detach all the mold from my windowsills from my walls, and even from my counters. The people checked to make sure I did not have any black mold in the house, and simply used some bleach to clean what was there. I now make sure to have my air conditioning equipment checked at least once a year. The air filters are cleaned officially, and I have had an air purification method installed into the air conditioning unit. I want to make sure that mold and mildew spores are not present in my air. I knew that with their presence not only was I risking my home’s health, even though I was risking my own health. It took a lack of comfort for me to realize that the air conditioning equipment did more than just keep my lake house cool.
