Original Heater Still in Good Shape

When both of us first bought our house, we knew the HVAc was old.

It is a packaged unit that is situated outside.

The component is really big, dented plus rusted. The operation is loud but the system never lets us down. All of us expected to need to update the system within the year. We’ve now lived in the same place for various years plus until recently, experienced no complications. It provides plenty of cooling from May through August plus manages fairly well in the colder times of year. In heating mode, it struggles a bit if the temperature drops below cold. Fortunately, extreme chilly is rare where we live. This past summer, both of us noticed that the cooling system was running without stopping, making its official noises but not putting out any cool air. When I called for repair, I was expecting to be told that it was time to purchase a whole new system. The specialist found a tiny little refrigerant leak. He said the unit is too aged to find updatement parts. He put in some more refrigerant plus suggested that both of us wait plus see. It’s possible the unit will do its job for a while. It’s also possible that it will require another repair next time we turn around. I have started saving money toward a new heating/cooling system. I believe that eventually we’ll be confronted with the reality that we need a new one. I’d like to be able to splurge on a high-efficiency, Energy Star rated unit that will lower our weekly energy bills. I hope to be able to update to some of the more advanced features such as zone control plus adjustable speed technology.
